My Potted Banana Tree Is Fruiting!

This was last Friday. The day started with a gloomy gray sky.

Morning sky at 7:25am
Hubby went to buy fried noodle while I stopped at a new stall to buy 2 curry puffs for RM1.
I was watching a cooking video and it has to do with olive vegetable. I was curious, so I bought 1 bottle to try. I took out a bit to eat with my oat porridge (above). I still prefer the crunchy texture of the pickled lettuce.
I had a pleasant surprise that morning when I was watering my plants in the garden. I looked up the banana tree and saw that it has budded. Sometime last year, a friend gave me a baby banana plant because I want to plant one in a pot just for its leaves.
A few months later, I changed my mind and thought of cutting it down but kept putting it off.
It looks like a type of banana (pisang awak) that is only good for cooking or frying and not nice to eat fresh when ripen.
I am curious to see how the bananas will turn out and decide whether I still want to cut it down.
I have been watching the progress of the formation of the bananas.
So far, I can see 3 small combs of bananas.
For these, I am thankful.
For dinner, we had leftover food from the previous day's dinner. In addition to the stuffed items, I also make fried dumplings (sui kao) with the extra filling. It was a no rice dinner because we wanted to finish all the leftovers.

This Good News tells us that God makes us ready
for heaven - makes us right in God's sight - when we put
our faith and trust in Christ to save us.
This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.
As the Scripture says it,
"The man who finds life will find it through trusting God."
(Romans 1:17, The Living Bible-TLB)

  1. Wowww!!! I wish I had green fingers like you. I would love to have a tree in my garden for the leaves, not so much for the fruits. I can buy those easily from the neighbourhood shop in the next lane from my house and anyway, I can't eat much since I'm on a low sugar diet.

  3. Congrats! Must be exciting to follow the progress of the formation of the bananas. Nice dinner 👍with lots of yong tofu aka stuffed items so definitely don't need rice. I have tried the olive vegetables condiment before and I find it to be very, very salty. Did you find it salty?

  13. The banana tree looks so pretty. We don't have them in Oregon. I'm sure it will be well worth trying the bananas to put in food. Your food looks good as always. We had a bit of rain Tues a.m. I didn't have to water plants that I forgot to water on Monday. I do need to put more water in the bird bath. Have a blessed day!

    1. Because the banana plant is so skinny and tall, hard to reach the leaves.

    1. If you have space, it is good to grow in the ground. Banana tree can grow up to double our height and they multiply sideways.

  22. By the way one banana plant will only fruit once. So you can cut down the old tree and keep the new one.
