Lunch At Ong Cheng Huat Seafood, Butterworth

On Thursday, we took the earliest ETS train to Butterworth (10:30am). It was to be a 2D1N stay in Penang.

Waiting for the train to start from Ipoh railway station.
At the Butterworth railway station.
From the railway station, our friends took us for lunch at....
Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Ong Cheng Huat Seafood, Butterworth.
Can you see the small lane?
We have to drive through this short single lane to reach the restaurant.
In front of the restaurant.
Clear blue sky and coconut trees.
We saw this car while we were waiting for our friends at the Butterworth railing station. Coincidentally, we saw this same car at the restaurant.
Inside the spacious restaurant.
We ordered a bottle of palm wine or referred to toddy by the locals.
When it is fresh, it is fragrant and sweet.
Blanched baby octupus.
Clams or lala.
Fried rice vermicelli or beehoon.
Crispy fried seafood pancakes.
Steamed red snapper.
Mango salad or mango kerabu.
Fried yellow noodle + rice vermicelli.
Fried mantis prawns with sticky sweet sour sauce.
Thanks to our friends for this filling and yummy-licious seafood lunch.
After lunch, our friends took us to the Sunway Carnival Mall, Butterworth to help us digest our lunch before taking us over to Georgetown to check into the hotel.
~~~~~
I found the following murals near to the Neo Hotel, Penang when we were out for our morning walk the next morning.
This is at the Pusat Kegiatan Guru, Dato Keramat.
This is also near to the hotel.
Our morning walk was cut short when it started to drizzle.
Linking to Monday Mural.
  1. It's a really nice car, but what an awful image on it. Do you think it is advertising something? I am impressed with the train, it looks so modern and clean.
  9. The area where the restaurant is located looks calm and beautiful, and I also liked the Ipoh railway station. Palm wine is prohibited to sell in our state, but people continue to consume it in secret. Beautiful mural.
    1. Thank you, Jeevan. I only drink the fresh palm wine. It won't taste good once it started to ferment.
  17. I'm so envious that you have a good rail transportation system where you can go from place to place. We don't have anything like that where I live. If you don't have a car you are pretty much out of luck here.
    Second the food!! The palm wine, I have never heard of such a thing. The blanched octopus looks like I might like it even though octopus I've had is quite chewy. I'd love to see what seafood pancakes are like as well.
    I hope that you had a great trip!
    1. Thank you, Yogi. I like to travel by train but still need a car to move around the place. I couldn't enjoy the octopus because it was too chewy for my week teeth.
