Crunchy Skin Roast Pork & Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun In Jelapang

The weather has been hot and humid. Today, the highest recorded temperature is about 92 deg F or 33 deg C. Last night at 10.30pm, as I was preparing this post, the temperature recorded was about 81 deg F or 27 deg C.

Sunrise at 7:30am on a Saturday morning.
7:30am on the reverse side of the sunrise.
We were driving to Jelapang for breakfast after our morning walk.
Breakfast at Restoran Fei Chai Yau, Jelapang (near the wet market).
Unsweetened coffee (kopi-c kosong).
It was so full and it spilled over by the time it reached our table.
I bought roast pork from the roast pork stall. It cost RM30 for the above (1 rib). While waiting for our noodles to be served, we ate some of the roast pork.
I ordered 2 plates of Hong Kong chee cheong fun with bbq pork and prawn filling served with sambal dried shrimp.
Inside the restaurant with ample sittings.
The place was filled up a short while after this.
This is where they make the drinks.
There are about 12 or more stalls selling different types of noodles in this restaurant.
~~~~~
Home cooked dishes for our dinner.
Sambal petai or stinky beans with sambal shrimps which we bought from Tg. Tualang. The beans were big and were cut into small pieces.
Home grown green amaranth (yeen choy).
I sauteed the green amaranth with remaining roast pork and leftover fried dace with fermented black beans to clear these from the fridge.
I found this wall mural at a school when we were in Tanjung Tualang last month.
Our Last Wonton Noodle Breakfast At Jalan Simpang, Jelapang
Due to the bad haze condition, we cancelled our early morning walk. Since we haven't been to Jelapang village for the wonton noodles, we decided to have breakfast there. And that was when we were informed by the boss that they are stopping their noodle business for good from Sunday, 15th September, 2019. We are going to miss their wonton dumplings and herbal duck soup.
 It was a Saturday of a long weekend, with Monday being a holiday to celebrate Malaysia Day. The place was crowded. We have to share the table with another couple who were just finishing their breakfast.
 We ordered 2 plates of wonton noodles, served with minced pork.
I always enjoy my wonton noodles with these pickled green chilies.
 2 bowls of wonton dumplings with 4 dumplings in a bowl.
Their wonton dumplings were filled with generous portion of minced pork and a whole prawn.
 We usually ordered 1 portion of this herbal duck soup to share.
Knowing that they are closing for good, we ordered 2 portions of soup.
We ended up enjoying our heavy breakfast to the maximum.
Anxious hearts are very heavy,
but a word of encouragement does wonders!
Enjoying Lunch & Dinner With Friends
It was on a Monday and I had some ironing to do. I usually don't take lunch but on this particular afternoon, I felt like going out for lunch. I whatsapped a friend to find out whether the place in Jelapang is opened for business but I didn't receive any reply. As I continued with the ironing, I changed my mind and thought of eating something else.
Later, the friend that I had earlier whatsapped, called me on the phone to invite me to join her in Jelapang. I informed her that I have changed my mind and wanted to eat something else but she persistently invited me to join her. It is not good to reject a sincere invitation and so, hubby and I drove to Jelapang to join our friend.
 Hubby and I ordered porridge and two types of ready cooked dishes.
 This is one of my favourite dish - eggplant cooked with minced pork.
 Stewed sweet sour pig's trotter with white radish.
 Our friend ordered this blanched chicken and insisted that we should try this. Initially, we thought we couldn't finish the dishes but as we chatted, we picked on the food till we finished everything. Good thing, the watery porridge was not very filling.
Our friend also personally ordered this cup of white coffee for us to try.
Thank you, friend for treating us lunch and coffee.
 This is where we had our lunch - Restoran Choy Jie.
It is next to the wet market and near to the police station.
 Saw this wall fence in front of the eatery.
Very unique wall fence made of colourful mosaic tiles.
Next time, hope to get a closer snapshot of the mosaic tiles.
 A bright, cheery bloom from my own garden.
 My Bauhinia kockiana plant is in full bloom.
That evening we had a dinner appointment with a young lady.
We had a delicious curry fish head and noodle dinner.
After dinner, this young lady friend treated us coffee at one of the MacDonald's outlet. I didn't know MacDonald serves nice coffee. I wouldn't mind coming back again to enjoy the coffee.
Stuffed Tofu For Lunch At Jalan Jelapang
I have heard of Jelapang's tasty stuffed tofu and it was only recently that I get to taste these tofu and I love them. These tofu really tasted and smelled so fresh. Here the tofu are freshly prepared behind the shop.  When the tofu are prepared, the tofu are then stuffed and brought out to the front stall to be sold.  So these tofu rightly home made and cooked tofu.
Today, we went back to Coffee Shop Seen Yoon, No. 778, Jalan Jelapang for lunch. This shop is 3 shops away from Restoran Seong Seng which is popular for its rojak. The shop opens for breakfast and lunch.
We didn't order any noodle, we only took ingredients. 2 pieces each of stuffed white and fried tofu and 1 big piece of plain fried tofu cut into four pieces.
And we also ordered some fried stuffed ingredients.
The shop opens for breakfast and lunch.
In front of the shop, these soy beans are spread out to sun on the ground.
A busy lunch hour with some eating in and some taking away the food.
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you.
Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
Enjoying Chinese Style Rojak @ Restoran Seong Seng, Jelapang
Whenever we want to eat Chinese "Rojak" (a mixture of fruits & vegetable salad), we will think of Jelapang Rojak. I know there are 2 popular places selling rojak in Jelapang. But we prefer the one on the main road. From a roadside stall, the business has now sifted into a shop on the main road. If you are coming from Ipoh, the shop is on the left hand side of the road just before Salvation Old Folks Home which is on the right side. Both of these places are just before reaching Jelapang town.
When I was still working, my colleagues and I would come here if we want a light lunch with easy parking. And sometimes on Sundays, after the Sunday Church service, my group would also come here for a light lunch and fellowship.  My hubby and I would also come here once in a while. This is the place where I buy my favourite rojak sauce.
A plate of Rojak for 2 persons. A bowl of sauce for each person. A generous topping of crushed toasted peanuts and sprinkling of belacan powder.
On this particular day and time, there was no crowd. We can pick and choose our table.
Before you stepped into the shop, on the right is the pancake stall. On your left inside the shop, is the fried noodle stall. And after that is the rojak stall.
The drink stall is further back on the left hand side. They serve ice-kacang, coconut water, lime juice, etc.
The lady boss preparing the rojak. Today's special tong sui is in the aluminium pot.
I like this place because it is clean and comfortable.
A piece of pancake.
I ordered pancake with peanut and corn filling.
The fried noodle is the vegetarian style. You can request to add egg or cockles.
My favourite "mak zuk tong sui" or sweet wheat porridge. I especially like this because boiled together with corn.
If your portion of rojak sauce is not enough, you can always request additional portion from the generous lady boss. I cannot remember the pricing but I know it is reasonable.
Restoran Seong Seng, Jalan Jelapang, Ipoh.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,
and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Herbal Duck Soup & Wanton Noodle @ Jelapang, Perak
It has been quite some time we have not been to Jelapang for our breakfast. Last Saturday morning, we went back to the coffee shop at Jalan Simpang, Jelapang for our breakfast. Being a Saturday morning, the place was crowded but we managed to get a small table.
We can only get to taste this Herbal Duck Soup on Saturdays and Sundays. This is the soup that draws us back to this place MYR 6 (approx. 1.70 USD).
A normal portion of 4 wantons (prawn and minced pork). So far this is the place that serves the biggest sized wanton.
A double portion of 8 wantons (couldn't remember the price).
This is a single portion noodle, dry version with soy sauce and minced meat gravy. Sometimes I will order green noodle, which is supposed to be spinach noodle. 1 single portion of noodle with wanton MYR 4 (approx. 1.13 USD).
Taking a look inside the wanton - prawn and minced meat.
This is a must, pickled crunchy sweet sour green chilies to go with the noodles. One plate not enough for me, I will take my hubby's share.
It looks more like a double-storey village house converted into a coffee shop. It has only one stall, and that's the stall selling wanton noodle.
When driving from Ipoh, Jalan Simpang is on the left side as we enter Jelapang town, Jalan Simpang is after Jalan Sekolah on the same left side.
Just as we turn into Jalan Simpang, this coffee shop will be on our right side. The lane on its right leads to the market, which is a short walk from this place.
Humble yourselves before the LORD, and He will lift you up.
