Birthday Lunch At August Healing, Ipoh

We woke up to a cloudy morning.

Sunrise at 7:05am.
This was a Monday and most eateries are closed on Mondays. Our friend finally found one that was open and we made our way to August Healing at No. 18A, Jalan Theatre, Ipoh.
We need to go up these steps.
Our friend ordered the above quiche and
something that looks like a scone with dried herbs and served with cream.
Someone ordered latte.
I ordered Earl Grey tea (refillable) and
this tiramisu cake.
The birthday boy ordered the above with chocolate topping and
the house's special bagel with filling.
It was a treat by his aunt for the young man's belated birthday celebration.
~~~~~
Our one dish home cookd dinner.
I used the whole bearded chicken and a bottle of raisin wine to cook this "Drunken Chicken Soup". Other ingredients used: wood fungus, red dates, goji berries, and ginger. With this soup, we had mee sua chicken wine soup. This portion was enough for 2 dinners.
One of our morning walk, we came across this dog sitting by the roadside.
He was sitting so upright and all the focus on what was ahead of him. I guess it might be waiting for its owner who had gone across the road to the recreational park.
Such a smart looking dog on guard, staying so focus.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
His every word is a treasure of knowledge and understanding.
He grants good sense to the godly - his saints.
He is their shield, protecting them and guarding their pathway.
He shows how to distinguish right from wrong,
how to find the right decision every time.
Dinner At Sun Hung Ting Restaurant, Ipoh
After our early morning walk, we had breakfast appointment with friends at Kedai Kopi Tasek Indra in Bercham, Ipoh. It was a Saturday morning but we were early (about 7:30am) so there was no problem getting a table for 6 people.
Hubby had kai si hor fun or shredded chicken flat rice noodle with smoked duck.
I had fish noodle (thick rice vermicelli).
~~~~~
For lunch, hubby and I together with a friend went to Restoran Kar Heng for rice porridge.
While waiting for the porridge to be served, our friend walked over to Restoran Embassy to buy the above sweet cake or Nyonya kuih.
2 bowls of plain rice porridge.
I was not hungry so hubby and I shared a bowl of porridge.
A plate of fried fresh water fish for sharing.
Just a light lunch because we were looking forward to dinner with friends.
~~~~~
We already called Restoran Sun Hung Ting to reserve a table for 8 people.
Even though it was raining heavily that evening, all tables were taken.
We ordered the following dishes.
Signature tofu: fried tofu with topping.
3 flavoured fried (fall off the bone) pork rib.
Tilapia fish (oil soaked style)
Assorted vegetables curry.
We wanted to order grouper fish slices in wine soup but that evening they do not have grouper slices so we ordered free range chicken in wine soup.
Pink Mexican Petunias or Pink Showers from my garden.
I have both pink and purple Mexican Petunias in my garden.
The seeds self disperse and self propagate all over my garden.
Some can be found sharing pots with other plants.
Our earthly fathers trained us for a few brief years,
doing the best for us that they knew how,
but God's correction is always right and for our best good,
that we may share his holiness.
Croissant Sandwich & Yellow Wine Chicken Noodle
Even though we may use the same route everyday for our morning walk, there is always something new that attracts our attention. It could be a beautiful sunrise, a barking dog, birds flying over us or a beautiful flower by the roadside just like this cockscomb flower.
I saw this cockscomb flower in front of a house we passed by. I had to stop to take this snapshot. The cockscomb flower has the appearance of a brain.
The above was my breakfast on this particular morning. Croissant with luncheon meat and fried egg. I had this with a cup of unsweetened coffee.
~~~~~
From my garden.
These are my white bitter gourd plants growing in a pot.
Lately, I don't know why some of the white bitter gourds seem to be rotting at the tail end. Could it be due to the excessive water from the rainy season.
Good thing the bitter gourd was not spoilt. I only have to cut off and discard the end part. The rest of the gourd was still good and fresh.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
I have home made glutinous rice wine and wheat noodle (mee sua). I also have chicken legs in the freezer. I wanted to cook something that is delicious and good for a rainy day.
Glutinous rice wine chicken soup with noodle. I had the mee sua while hubby had instant noodle because he doesn't like mee sua.
Ingredients used: chicken legs (without skin), glutinous rice wine, ginger slices, red dates and gojiberries for the soup and noodle.
A replica of an old fashioned wood fire cooking stove in one of the museum I visited. We had a stove that looked something like this in the village house when I was a kid.
"Then I, the King, shall say to those at my right,
'Come, blessed of my Father, into the Kingdom
prepared for you from the founding of the world.
For I was hungry and you fed me;
I was thirsty and you gave me water;
I was a stranger and you invited me into your homes;
naked and you clothed me; sick and in prison, and you visited me.'
Drunken Chicken Soup Noodle & Roast Duck Noodle
This was Christmas Day morning. We didn't go for morning walk because we were preparing for Christmas Day physical church service.
Sunrise at 7:30am.
~~~~~
Since we have plenty of time, we drove out to town for breakfast at Restoran Impressive. We have not been there for many years so it was like a new place for us.
Hubby ordered Drunken Chicken Noodle Soup.
The pieces of chicken were beneath the fried egg.
I ordered wonton noodle with roast duck.
The roast duck noodle came with 4 wontons (minced meat dumplings) and soup.
My Pink Mexican Petunias showing off their blooms.
An antique camera in the Gopeng Museum.
This snapshot was taken when we last visited the museum in 2015.
As you can see, it has a chain around it.

Then they cried to the Lord in their troubles, and he rescued them!
He led them from the darkness and shadow of death
and snapped their chains.
Oh, that these men would praise the Lord for his
loving-kindness and for all of his wonderful deeds!

Rolled Oats With Banana, KFC & Salad

Today (21st September, 2021) is Mid-Autumn Festival.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

to those who are celebrating this festival.

We started out on our morning walk at about 7am on this particular Wednesday. There was no sunrise to greet us as we stepped out of our gate.

This was after we have walked for about 10 minutes.
Sunrise reflected on the clouds at 7:23am.
Same as above.
Still no sign of sunrise at 7:48am.
Fried dough (ma keok & kap zong) for hubby.
Home made black coffee for both of us.
Rolled oats with almond slices, walnut chunks, dried cranberries and fresh banana for me.
One last mooncake (gifted by a friend) waiting to be eaten.
We ate half of it for morning tea time.
We went to the bank and we passed by KFC.
I was just mentioning that we haven't eaten KFC for a long time.
That was how I ended up buying the 3 pieces set for sharing.
Included in the set: a bun, mashed potato and coleslaw.

There were 2 pretty mushrooms under the Bauhinia Kockiana plants. One was squeezed in between a block of wood and the concrete brick.
~~~~~
Simple dinner.
Instant noodle and the leftover chicken with glutinous rice wine soup for hubby.
I also made salad with steamed prawns (blessed by neighbour), cucumber, tomatoes and hard boiled egg with Kewpie roasted sesame dressing.
This is an extra big egg with double egg yolk selling at 80 cents per egg.
I had this for dinner.
Prawns, tomato slices, shredded cucumber, egg slices, almond slices, walnut chunks, dried cranberries and roasted sesame dressing. It was delicious and filling.
This old photo was on display at the UTC Ipoh in May, 2015.
This is the new look of the bridge.
but the names of wicked men stink after them.
