Shredded Chicken & Prawn Noodle Soup & Home Cooked Yam Rice

We haven't been to Restoran Thean Chun for a long, long time because it was always crowd before the Covid-19 movement control order was enforced. Customers will be standing behind those already seated to finish their food so that they could occupy the table.

When we were there yesterday with our friends, it was suppose to be the peak lunch hours. Surprisingly, we could easily get a table for 4 people.
We ordered egg custards served with plain water.
We ordered 4 bowls of kai si hor fun or shredded chicken and prawn noodle.
And a plate of chee cheong fun or steamed rice roll for us to share.
~~~~~
Having friends over for simple home cooked dinner.
Our friend cooked the above dish.
Main ingredients: Crispy pork lard, green chilies, onions, taucu or fermented soy beans.
I sauteed home grown snake long beans with roast pork.
I made yam rice for my friends to taste.
Ingredients: rice, yam cubes, dried prawns, dried shiitake mushrooms, roast pork, chopped onions and garlic, oyster and soy sauce, salt to taste, sesame oil and cooking oil.
Sambal belacan paste condiment - blessing from my friend.
 Best condiment for the yam rice.
~~~~~
From my garden
Cockscomb flowers and cactus plant.
 First attempt growing carrot. Hoping to harvest some carrots.
Can you spot the little white butterfly or moth with black spots?
It was fluttering from leaf to leaf. I have to quickly take these snapshots before it fluttered off again.

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.
(Proverbs 26:2, New Living Translation-NLT)

    1. We have started to dine out now. Its comfortable eating out because the places are not overly crowded. The restaurants are required to observe social distancing.

  14. The little butterfly or moth camouflaged itself so well and blended into the leaf. Love your yam rice because it sounded so flavourful. Your Kai si hor fun has so much Kai si. I have eaten the egg custard at this shop before. I guess people are still not dining in is it so there are seats available. Did you see many people ordering takraways while you were eating there?

    1. Business is not as good as before the MCO. Probably minus the oversea tourists and visitors from other states. Most locals are also not too keen in eating out as yet. Take away also not many.

  25. Ooh it's actually a good time for cuti-cuti Malaysia! I found it stressful trying to find seats in crowded eating places. Without a queue system, it all depends on luck to spot a good table to wait for and then 'guard' it.

    1. Before MCO, we will avoid this place because of the crowd. So before the crowd and tourists return, this is the best time to enjoy the food here.
