This was a Tuesday morning. We are still in the rainy season but that morning we were happy to see the sunrise, though only for a short while.
Sunrise at 7am.
Dark cloud blocking the sunrise at 7:40am
After morning walk, we drove to Menglembu Industrian area for breakfast. I forgot the new name of the restaurant. A friend informed hubby of this new place.
We ordered fish head noodle in white broth. Tastes good but I would prefer the broth to be a bit more sourish.
While waiting for the chee cheong fun to be served, I ordered the above siew bao with bbq pork to try.
Steamed red yeast rice flour roll or chee cheong fun with filling. The filling is actually crispy fried prawn roll. Together with the sambal and soy sauce, it tastes very different from the usual steamed chee cheong fun. This is my first time eating this type of chee cheong fun.
After we have finished breakfast, I bought the above bun that looks like Polo Bun with bbq pork filling for my lunch.
Reached home at about 9:05am, there was no sign of the sun.
On the reverse side at 9:05am. Expecting rain soon.
For lunch, I had the polo bun with bbq pork filling.
~~~~~
We had leftover food for dinner.
Leftover stewed pork rib with home grown daikon.
The above spicy chicken or ayam masak merah was from our neighbour.
Dinner with steamed brown rice.
Simple dinner turned out to be not so simple with the addition of the masak merah ayam from our neighbour.
Just as water is turned into irrigation ditches,
so the Lord directs the king's thoughts.
He turns them wherever he wants to.
(Proverbs 21:1, The Living Bible-TLB)
The second photo is beautifully moody!
DeleteThank you Nancy. I would like to try the Red Yeast Rice Chee Cheong Fun because it sounds very different from the usual ccf. Your dinner looks delicious! Does the white broth of the Fish Noodle have milk in it?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. I like the red yeast rice ccf, something very different.
DeleteThe spicy chicken looks yum!
Thank you, Lovely.
DeleteThe second photo of the sky is amazing, so very different Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret.
DeleteRed yeast rice? Ang chao, the residue from making traditional Fóochow red wine. Wonder what it tastes like. I love fish noodles with milky soup.
ReplyDeleteI think the difference is the colour and the filling.
DeleteI want to try some of those pinky chee cheong fun!
ReplyDeleteNice. I don't mind having it again.
DeleteNice cloudy sky with a bit of sun! Interesting food. I'm still having a few problems with my stomach since Sunday but it's not too bad which is a good thing. I have to be careful what I eat. We've had fog over use today but not too far down, A bit chilly today.
ReplyDeleteHave stomach problem is no fun at all. Hope your stomach is back to normal. Take care and stay safe.
DeleteYou really have the to me most exotic food there! The bun looks a bit Aussie-familiar, like a meat pie a bit. Great sky pics, oh, I love rain...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Iris. I think the bun is fusion.
DeleteNeverr seen or taste such ccf. It has been hot lately over here but we did have thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. Not much rain this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Happy weekend.
DeleteRed yeast rice chee cheong fun is very interesting. Looks like a real innovation and not just a gimmick (like charcoal burgers for instance)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacy. The filling is very special.
DeleteExcelentes y sugerentes imagenes, saludos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jesus.
DeleteThose buns with the filling are wonderful. I ate them often on a visit to Hong Kong a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteThank you, David. I like the buns in Hong Kong too.
