We overslept but still got ready for our morning walk.

Sunrise at 7:00am.

Started our morning walk at slightly past 7:00am.

We finished our morning walk at about 7:55am.

We took our car and drove to Desa Rishah.

A friend informed us of this place. This is the same wan tan mee which was formerly at Jalan Datoh, Ipoh. They have named this place as Jln Datoh Wan Tan Mee. It took us a long time to come here.

2 plates of single Wan tan mee (dry version).

Single portion (5 pieces) of wan tan (minced pork dumplings).

Double portion (10 pieces) of wan tan (minced pork dumplings) for hubby.

10 pieces of fried wan tan @ 70 cents per piece.

When eating wan tan mee or wan tan noodle, pickled green chili is a must for most of us.

Luo han guo or monk fruit drink and coffee with evaporated milk (both drinks unsweetened).

Breakfast for 2 people.

Passed by this plant on our morning walk. This was identified by Google Lens as Lagerstroemia or commonly known as Crepe Myrtle.

Yam rice for dinner.

Taro rice or yam rice, enough for 2 dinners.

Ingredients used: chopped garlic, dried shrimp, diced shiitake mushrooms, and diced taro. Stir fried all the above ingredients, season with salt, oyster sauce and dark sauce. Then, add in the brown rice and transfer to a pot. Add water and steam until rice is cooked.

Lunch At Chang Jiang White Coffee Shop At Riverfront Park, Ipoh

This was in January this year, that we went to check out this newly opened coffee shop at Riverfront Park which was formerly known as the People's Park.

The last time we were here was in September, 2018 to enjoy the delicious lamb rack and lamb soup by BBQ Lamb. If you are interested, you can click here for the post to see the changes. So, about 4 years later, we were once again walking into this park and climbing up these steps, curious to see what's new inside there.

This Riverfront Park is just beside the Kinta River that separates the new and old town of Ipoh.

Since it is about a week to Chinese New Year, it is not surprising to see these red lanterns

We were shown to a big room with tables and chairs.

Some tables have marble table tops with wooden stand and wooden tools just like in the old days.

Sometimes we can be light eaters. Lol!

Unsweetened coffee (RM4.88) for hubby and fresh lemon juice (hot), less sweet (RM6.68) for me.

By the time we finished, most of the tables in the big room were occupied. Hopefully, they will have more tables available outside this room.

Lunch At Chiang Jiang White Coffee Cafe, Ipoh

As usual, our day started with our morning walk.

Walking exercise at 7:35am.

Hubby and I shared this plate of fried rice vermicelli. The fried noodle boss was in good mood because the plate of fried noodle came with 5 prawns and extra fat and short beansprout.

I had a lunch appointment with a friend and my sister. The three of us agreed to meet up for lunch and fellowship. Our friend will come to pick me, then pick up my sister and then proceed to Chang Jiang White Coffee Cafe, Ipoh which is quite near to my sister's house.

My sister ordered iced coffee.

The coffee came in a stainless steel mug and a jug with ice.

I was tempted to order the same thing but I am suppose to be cutting down on my coffee intake.

I think my friend ordered hot coffee or was it "cham" (coffee with tea)?

Lemon ice for me.

My sister is a light eater so she ordered toast with butter and kaya.

We even had to help her eat half of it.

My sister also order the above fried wonton dumplings to share with us.

Our friend ordered this baba spicy noodle soup to try.

Her review: Nothing special.

I ordered the above nasi lemak with a chicken drumstick, half a hard boiled egg, a piece of papadam, sambal and green. I like the taste of the chicken drumstick and so it is not surprising I could finish all the rice.

Lunch At Hoong Tho Restaurant In Ipoh Old Town.

This post is about a lunch we had with friends in the middle of January. Since all of us preferred noodles, we went to Hoong Tho Restaurant in Ipoh old town. We ordered the following for 4 people.

Deep fried dumplings or wontons.

4 fish balls for 4 people.

Flat rice noodle in egg gravy - single portion.

Yee mee or chewy noodle in dark sauce.

After we have finished our lunch, we just couldn't resist buying 2 pieces of these traditional sponge cake from the same restaurant to share.

And we also bought a chempedak cake to take home to enjoy. Chempedak is something like the jack fruit but it is softer and has a nice fragrance.

Hubby only ate a few pieces, I finished off the rest.

The restaurant also sells these Chinese New Year cookies and snacks.

A few shops away, we stopped to look at these Chinese sausages and waxed meat. These waxed items are usually sold before the Chinese New Year.

We bought 2 pieces of waxed duck legs which is hubby's favourite.

Buah Bidara - a tropical fruit, crisp and a bit juicy and a bit sweet.

This is the first time I bought and tasted these fruits.

 This is a replica of the Royal Throne of the state of Perak.

This Royal Throne has been used during the installation of His Royal Highness Sultan Iskandar Shah (the 30th Sultan of Perak) in 1918. Since then it was used during the installation of His Royal Highness Sultan Abdul Aziz Al-Mustasim Billah Shah in 1938. His Royal Highness Sultan Yussuff Izzudin Shah in 1948 and His Royal Highness Sultan Idris Iskandar Al-Mutawakkil Allalahi Shah II in 1963 in Iskandariah Palace, Kuala Kangsar, Perak. (Information from the National Museum)
