Boiled Cassava Root With Palm Sugar Syrup

This was last Friday morning. After morning walk, we drove to Menglembu for breakfast. Hubby ordered hor hee noodle. I walked over to the next shop to take a look at what they have at the bakery shop.

I bought this piece of garlic bread. I took half of it for breakfast.

I also bought this piece of curry puff to try and I had it for breakfast too. I like both the garlic bread and curry puff. Kept half the garlic bread for mid morning tea but by then it had soften and was no longer nice.

I also bought 2 polo buns for my neighbour who was on leave from work. Her feedback was that these polo buns are very nice.

These were what I ordered for breakfast that morning.

Toast and coffee for sharing.

Hubby wanted a small piece of butter to be added to the coffee.

A small piece will do because too much won't taste good.

Wild mushrooms growing in my flower pot.

Our friend has space to grow cassava or tapioca plants.

That afternoon, he called to inform that he has pulled out 1 plant and the roots were waiting to be collected.

I removed the skin from the cassava roots and took out a small portion to boiled with some salt and water. The rest I kept in the freezer for later use.

I love boiled cassava root with pure palm sugar syrup without any sugar added. I don't get to eat this often because my garden has no more space for growing tapioca plants.

Dinner With Friends At Kedai Minuman Villa

We are now at 146th day of RMCO (recovery movement control order). When the situation begins to look good, new cases will appear and we don't know for how long we will have to observe the requirement of the sop. On our early morning walking rounds, we see used masks discarded everywhere especially on the roads and on the sides of the roads. This is unsightly and bad for the environment. This is why hubby and I have switched to the use of fabric masks which can be washed after every use.

For breakfast, we had takeaway fried economy fried rice vermicelli Indian style with lots of sweet and spicy sambal @ RM 2.00 per packet. Hubby had unsweetened black coffee and herbal tea for me.

As I was watering my plants, I noticed a wild mushroom all alone by itself. I didn't expect to see any wild mushroom as the current weather is warm about 30 to 33 deg Celsius.

We had the following for lunch. These were all from my fridge.

2 steamed pork buns given by our friend.

The above were leftover from previous day's dinner. To heat up the above, I used a nonstick frying pan.Since I was using the nonstick frying pan, I might as well fry the above remaining sweet meat. These can be eaten as a snack.

A simple lunch for 2 people. We kept the sweet meat to be eaten as snack.

My neighbour bought 2 combs of bananas last Sunday. She gave me a comb and kept one for herself. It has been more than a week and until now the 2 combs of bananas remained green. We will wait another week to see what happens.

Dinner eat out with friends at Kedai Minumum Villa, Jalan Dato Tahwil Azhar, Ipoh.

Black Tilapia cooked in a claypot. Very flavourful with lots of garlic and onions.Herbal chicken (half a chicken for 4 people). Thumbs up for this.Sambal belacan water spinach (kangkong)This place serves lunch and dinner, closes at 8 pm. Off day - Wednesday.

Greetings From My Garden

We have mostly cloudy sky and rain for the past 2 days and this morning due to heavy rain, we didn't go for our early morning walk. Once the rain stopped, I went out to the garden to check out my plants.

 I found a wild mushroom beside a flower pot.

 Flower of the stubby okra plant.

 Happy to see these little stubby okras.

 Long purple eggplants

 Daikon or white radish.

The last harvest and will take a rest before planting these again.

 Purple custard apple aka sugar apple.

 The birds were eating this fig before I went into the garden.

Might as well leave it to them to enjoy.

 This fig was half gone and now I have to wrap my figs in transparent plastic.

I used plastic which makes it easier for me to check on the figs.

 I managed to harvest a few of my figs.

 With the birds eyeing my figs, I cannot leave the figs to ripen on the plant.

 Once the green fig turns light yellow, it is time to harvest.

Both the birds and I are keeping a close watch on these figs.

 Blue plumbago

 When exposed to the hot sun, the blue is a lighter shade.

 Miniature hibiscus.

Wild Mushrooms

I came across a folder labelled "Wild Mushrooms" at one corner of my computer desktop which I have long forgotten. These wild mushroom photos were taken in the year 2016 during the rainy season during our morning walk at the park. Since then I have not noticed any wild mushrooms at the park.

 Mushrooms shaped like a brain.

 The above is a part of mushrooms seen growing in a big circle.

Maybe the fairies came out in the night to have a party or a gathering.
When others saw me taking photos, they too were curious and came near to take photos of these mushroom.

I overhead someone asking whether these are edibles. 

 No one could confirm whether these are edibles or not.

They do look very pretty.

 The above mushroom is found growing in one of the pot in my garden. These wild mushrooms appear only for a short time.
