What To Do With This "Chilli Con Carne"?

I received a packet of "Chilli Con Carne" from a friend and I didn't know what to do with it. Then one day, I picked up the packet to read the instructions. One of the ingredients to add is kidney beans. I didn't have any kidney beans so I came up with my own recipe. I didn't know what to expect but I was game to try.
Dinner for 2 people that evening.
A packet of Chilli Con Carne from a friend.
I added diced onions, potatoes, carrots and minced beef.
It smelled and tasted like spaghetti sauce.
At least now I know what is Chilli Con Carne!
I didn't have any spaghetti so I ate this with steamed rice.
I steamed some salted fish with ginger strips & cooked oil especially for hubby. Good to eat with steamed rice.
I also steamed 3 white eggplants harvested from my garden.
Topped with garlic & onion crisp and oil and sprinkling of soya sauce.

You are the world's seasoning, to make it tolerable.
If you lose your flavor, what will happen to the world?
And you yourselves will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
You are the world's light - a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see.
Don't hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see,
so that they will praise your heavenly Father.

  1. You're very innovative with how you made use of the chili con carne sauce Nancy:) I also like to tell you that I'm really drooling on your eggplant dish. If I were in your home, sitting with you at your dining table...I think it will be very hard for me to leave the table without finishing that dish!

  10. I make Chilli con carne quite often but without a packet! I serve it with rice or just simply with a salad. Take care Diane.

  13. Very unique fences, the first is different from any i've seen and the second is very colorful.

Chili con carne does not have to have beans in it, although being vegetarian i make mine with only beans.

  18. Chili con Carne actually translates to chilli with meat. It's often made with minced beef but there are many vegetarian versions out there too that use beans alone. A heart warming recipe.

  19. I prefer your own version. I am not a fan of kidney beans.

  20. Chilli con carne is like a capsicum-y version of spaghetti sauce and often shortened to just 'chilli' (which to a Malaysian is so weird! Chilli is chilli and not this hehe). One of the first things I had to check out as a student in UK.
