Boil Cassava (Tapioca Roots), Tom Yam, & Fried Turmeric Fish

A friend gave me some cassava or tapioca roots. Initially, I thought of making baked tapioca kuih with coconut milk. Finally, I decided to boiled the roots with water and salt. Then I melted some palm sugar (gula melaka).

This is the yellow type of cassava (tapioca root).
I packed the boiled cassava and the palm sugar and took it along on our morning walk. I gave half to our friend and I ate the other half for breakfast. Hubby doesn't like this.
Pour some palm sugar syrup over it and it is good to eat. It would be more delicious if eaten with grated coconut.
This was my breakfast with a cup of unsweetened coffee (kopi-C kosong).

Pink Plumeria or Frangipani by the roadside.
Cockscomb drying up and the tiny black seeds are dropping off.

Lunch
I added napa cabbage, chilies and prawns to the previous day's tom yam soup.
I blanched some rice vermicelli to eat with the tom yam soup. The added chilies made the soup more flavourful.

Home cooked dinner.
Blanched fresh mushrooms, snow peas and home grown okra. Drizzled with garlic oil and oyster and soy sauce.
Fried 3 fishes, marinated with turmeric powder and salt.
I pan fried a few pieces of bacon for hubby because he is not a big fan of fish.
Rice porridge
Our simple home cooked dinner for a warm evening.

your souls have been cleansed from selfishness
and hatred when you trusted Christ to save you;
so see to it that you really do love each other warmly,
with all your hearts.

  4. Wow! You are so diligent to fried 3 fish cos I know it is not easy to fry fish with the oil pik pik pak Pak. Since your husband just eat the meat of the fish, means you need to clean and pick the bones of 3 fish! It will take me 3 hours to do that - did you manage to do it in one meal?
