Reunion Celebration Dinner At Rawang Famous Steamed Fish, Ipoh

Last week, we had a reunion celebration dinner for a friend who seldom gets to visit us. There were altogether 10 people in our group. Out of the whole group only hubby and I have tasted the food at Rawang Famous Steam Fish.

We have earlier planned to go with the rest of the group but somehow the plan was put on hold. So with the visit of this special friend from another state, we were finally able to gather as a group to enjoy a delightful dinner at this restaurant.

It was a weekend and every table was taken by customers. Fortunately, some from our group reached there earlier and managed to secure a big table for us and ordered the food as well.
Mixed Vegetables, consisting of lotus root slices, mushrooms, carrots, celery, green peas, white fungus, baby corn, ginkgo nuts, pine nuts, etc. - RM12.00
Marmite Pork Rib with mayonnaise as dipping sauce - RM22.00
Sambal Petai (stinking beans) - RM12.00
Lam Yee Pai Kuat - RM22.00
(deep fried Pork Rib marinated with red fermented bean curd)
Stir fry Sambal Kangkong - RM8.00
(water convolvulus or water morning glory stir fry with spicy prawn paste)

Yummy Cheese Prawns - RM140.00
("Ling ming har" or "ling ming" prawns are very expensive)
Green veggie Kailan or Chinese kale cooked in 2 styles - RM15.00
Young shoot with stem - blanched, and the leaves - deep fried.
And not to forget the restaurant's signature dish.
2 steamed Tilapia with Bentong ginger and chili padi - RM25.00 each.
Total cost RM308.60
(inclusive of 16 bowls of white rice, a pot of Chinese tea, 3 herbal drink)

Address: Rawang Famous Steam Fish,
No. 1, Jalan Lapangan Symphony, Lapangan Symphony Business Park,
31300 Ipoh. Tel. No: 05-3110854.
The restaurant also sells this Bentong ginger.
I think it was RM24 per kilo if I remembered correctly.
My friend bought this bag of ginger.
She drinks ginger tea for its health benefits.

griping brings discouragement.

    1. Yes, Agnes. Just the prawn dish alone comes to almost half the amount of our dinner. The lotus roots slices dish is very nice and crunchy. The lotus roots should be younger ones.

    2. hi Nancy...perhaps my staff did not mention to you that we only sell the best "ming" prawns...prawns you ordered are called "ling ming har"...most expensive prawn. Wet market going at rm65/kg and for normal "ming har"..it's rm46/kg. During CNY, it'll be rm100/kg for these type of prawn.

  15. The food looks good. I find the lotus roots most interesting and pretty. I eat ginger and love cooking with it. I freeze it and shave it very thin with a sharp knife and return the rest to the freezer and it keeps well.

My first try wish Talapia was when a friend of mine had the whole fish on his bbq. I had no idea how to eat it until he explained it to me. I was so worried about the bones but it turned out OK. It did taste really great.
Have a great Saturday my friend. See ya.
