Fish Curry Nyonya Style, Taro Ring & Tofu For Dinner

It has been raining the whole of previous night until the early hours of the morning.

Morning sky at 7:51am.
On the reverse side, view of misty Kledang Hill.

Curry noodle seems to be the best choice on a cool morning.
We ordered dry curry noodle with chicken curry and bbq pork.
Our noodles were served with thick creamy curry gravy.
On the way home from breakfast, we stopped to buy chempedak cake (RM12) and cheesecake (RM15).
I have been buying the chempedak cake (top) quite regularly. This is my first time trying the cheesecake (bottom).
Limau purut (rough skin lime or Kaffir lime) from my garden.
I planted this for the leaves which I used for tom yam dishes.
~~~~~
Dine-in dinner at Restoran 932 in Menglembu.
We ordered taro ring. Sorry, I was late in taking snapshots and someone had taken part of the taro ring. Plus the dish came with 4 pieces of prawn crackers. The crackers were missing because we each took one.
Just to show you, this was what was left of my piece of prawn cracker.
The second dish was deep fried tofu topped with chopped pickled radish, dried shrimp, fried shallots and garlic and sauces.
The 3rd and last dish was fish slices in Nyonya curry. We didn't expect the curry gravy to be thick and too little. Taste wise was good but we prefer more curry gravy to go with our rice. Total cost of dinner for 3 dishes for 4 people = RM69, including rice and tea.
The following photo was taken at the Tin Mining Museum in Kampar.
Tools used in the tin mining activities.
Do not let any part of your bodies become tools of wickedness,
to be used for sinning; but give yourselves completely to God -
every part of you - for you are back from death and
you want to be tools in the hands of God,
to be used for his good purposes.
  1. I like the look of the taro ring! The stuff inside looks absolutely delicious. Ya, the fish curry looks more like sweet and sour than curry. Doesn't seem to have the colour even...unlike the curry you all had with the noodles. Yummmm...that looks good!!!
    1. Thank you, STP. That taro ring was good and the curry noodle is one of our favourite. I refer to it as the messy curry noodle.
    Interesting ring. Hmmm, and the tofu!
  15. Those two dishes sure looked like dinner until you said it was breakfast. I'm not sure my stomach could handle that dish for breakfast.
  20. All the food looks very tasty, from the dry curry, the cakes, to the taro ring or yam basket and tofu n fish slices. Makes me want to order these next time. Do u think u all need to ask them to cook more gravy the next time u order the fish fillet?
    1. Thank you, Mun. The next time we dine there we will order the normal fish curry instead of this Nyonya style curry.
  22. That is a proper dry curry all right! With mint leaves too. The only place I know of to get this is Ipoh's Gluts square.
    Taro rings are totally worth ordering in my opinion. Since they're hard to make and are totally delicious.
    1. Hi Stacy, you should try the Yee Fatt Dry Curry Noodle, near the roundabout at Jalan Kampar (opp MGS school). I agree with you about the taro ring.
