Steamed Grouper Fish & Sauteed Sweet Potato Leaves

This was last Tuesday. The day before, I received a text message from younger son that he had ordered a new computer keyboard for me after he saw my old keyboard when he was back for the weekend.

Morning sky at 7:50am.
I was to expect the keyboard to be delivered anytime on Tuesday.
I received the package at about 3pm in the afternoon and here is the box holding the new keyboard. It is a mechanical wired keyboard, works something like the old typewriters in my old office.
After unwrapping, it looks something like my old keyboard.
After it was plugged in, it lighted up in multi colours. But best of all, it is the springiness and the feel as I type. As I can type real fast, I really appreciate and enjoy using this new keyboard. Thanks to my son for his thoughtfulness.
This is my old keyboard. As you can see, some of the letterings on the key pad have disappeared and I used liquid paper to draw the letters on the pads. I have no problem identifying the right letters because I am very familiar to their positions. I will just keep the old keyboard back into the box as a spare.

Time for home cooked dinner.
Sweet potato leaves sauteed with garlic and LKK prawn paste.
Nice and tender sweet potato leaves harvested from my garden.
Steamed whole grouper fish (cut into two halves) with chopped ginger, garlic and pickled radish. For seasoning, I used oyster sauce, a little salt, and some home made rice wine. Garnish with chopped spring onions.
First, squeezed the 2 limes over the steamed fish before we eat.
This was a no rice dinner.
This mural was taken in year 2014. It was painted by one of our local artists behind a row of shop houses. It shows the kids putting their fingers to their lips. Shhhh... not a sound, please!

  1. Your first words sure made me laugh.
When Ingo sat down at my computer the same happened! We work ahead with what we have, huh?
Mine has only one color at the time, yours is like disco!!!
These are great when it´s dark, I don´t wanna miss this! Yes, my old one was like that, too.

Hmmmm, your food looks fresh and yummy!

Hm. The mural. Ingo´s Dad in the beginning was a police officer and that was Ingo´s life when his Dad came home from work in early mornings. Not a sound inside.
He has not such good memories of this time. But these kids look happy (Ingo was happy, too).

    1. Thank you, Iris. The new keyboard is very nice to type on. It takes very little to make kids happy. When I was small, I was taught that kids are to be seen and not to be heard.

  2. What a wonderful gift! There sure is a big difference between your old and new keyboards. So why are the kids in the mural wanting people to be quiet?

  3. Your son is really thoughtful to buy a mechanical wired keyboard for you. All I know about this type of keyboard is that they are more expensive than the usual keyboards. Love your dinner a lot. This fish has less tiny bones so your husband is ok to eat it, right?

    1. Thank you, Mun. When it comes to fish, I like the bony part and hubby prefers the meaty part so it works out well for both of us. Lol!

  4. Oh my!!! With lights? That means you can type in the dark! LOL!!! Mine is Logitech...but they all look more or less the same , anyway...just no lights.

I don't know what a grouper is but I am quite sure I had it before. I'm hopeless with the names of fish.

  8. Wow, very futuristic keyboard. You sound like me, I also do blind typing and at work our keyboard keys wear out fast, but I know what I'm doing without having to look at the keys, so the keyboard stays like that until one of my colleagues complains she doesn't know where the keys are!
I've never had sauteed sweet potato leaves, but I like the look of them.
The mural is very cute, I wonder why the kids have to be quiet :)
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Nancy.

  12. The keyboard took me back to the desktop age, and I used a keyboard similar to yours for the last time before I bought a laptop. Enjoy typing that gives you a touch of old days. Cute mural!

  19. I have a wireless keyboard so I can move it around. My old one, also a wireless was worse looking than yours. Nearly ALL the letters were missing, Glad I'm a touch typist.

That is a sweet mural, Nancy. I wonder why they don't want to be heard.

    1. I think they may be playing a game of hide and seek. They properly want to keep quiet to avoid being caught by the seeker.

  22. Very funky after it lights up!

My keyboards always used to have a few keys in certain position rubbed off, must be how my thumbnail whacks them. I stuck on printed letters with cellophane tape and also tried liquid paper. Not so effective as I would keep whacking the same way haha. My current Thinkpad has letters which don't rub off. :)
