Beef Soup (Ngau Lam) For Breakfast & Simple Home Cooked Dinner

It was a Saturday morning, and our friends wanted to go to Bercham for the beef noodles. Yes, let's go because we love this beef soup too.

Delicious beef soup (with or without noodle) = RM8.00

Altogether, we ordered 3 bowls of beef soup without noodle and 1 bowl with noodle.

Home cooked dinnerFried Prawns + EggBlanched French beans and home grown okra, drizzled with garlic oil + oyster and soy sauce.Noodle + chili oil + spring onions. This was our simple home cooked dinner for 2 peopleThis was how I ate the noodle with the beans and egg.I get the above ceramic jars when I buy fermented bean curd (nam yue). Instead of throwing them away, I used them for planting these short snake plants. These jars do not have water drainage holes at the bottom so I have to be careful when watering the plants. If over watered, the roots will rot and the plants will die.

  4. The beef soup looks so delicious! Your dinner is not simple at all. Must have taken one hour to prepare and cook everything including washing the vegetables. Yummy dinner, well worth the time spent to cook it. Good that you reuse the jars. I think if you ask your husband to help you drill some holes at the bottom of the jars, he will do it for you, right?

  5. Mmm I like beef soup too. Especially with some sour veggie in there to enhance the taste.

Love how you pay attention to garnishing - the chopped spring onions on the noodles, the garlic bits on the veg, the chilli oil on the side.

  11. They make nice planters, but I agree that over watering can lead to root rot since those pots lack holes for drainage.

  13. What you call snake plants is what I think I heard called Mother-in-laws tongue when I grew up. I love those pots.

  14. a dremel would probably work to put some small holes in the pots. Lovely food, I'd have to skip the beef tho'......and have 2x the shrimp! hahah. Cheers!

  15. The shrimp with egg looks very tasty. Those jars make ideal pots for the plants. You could drill holes in the bottom for drainage, but start with a small drill bit first to avoid cracking them, then use a bigger one to get the size you want.
