Reunion Dinner Chinese New Year 2022

Yesterday (Sunday) was eve of Chinese New Year 2022. To avoid the crowd, hubby and I decided to go out early for breakfast. We were among the early birds at the coffee shop.

Herbal tea for me and Chinese tea for hubby.
The price of drink at this particular coffee shop has increased 10 cents. Not sure if it is only for the CNY season or will be permanent.
We ordered a bowl of pork noodle to share.
4 pieces of fried ingredients.
Sunrise at 8:00am.
~~~~~
Elder son brought back 2 fishes that he caught on his off shore fishing trip. I used one to steam for the reunion dinner.
Blended ginger steamed fish.
Blanched baby kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Hubby ordered 1 roast duck for RM63. Half for reunion dinner and half for the next day's meal.
2 types of dipping sauce for the roast duck.
We bought yee sang from one of the restaurants in Falim at RM63.
The portion shrank in size but the price increased.
Only 2 sizes available. Medium size RM63, Big size RM83.
This was our family's reunion dinner for the Tiger Year 2022.
Update on my banana babies growing in a pot.
There are 2 smaller ones, one on each side of this bigger one.
An antique hot water boiler used in a coffee shop. The lower compartment is for holding the coffee cups submerged in hot water.
Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges.
Remember, the Lord forgave you,
so you must forgive others.
(Colossians 3:13, The Living Bible-TLB)
  1. I stopped at the coffee shop in the next lane from my house to buy some noodles for our lunch yesterday - not cooking anything for that, just for our reunion dinner in the evening. The guy said I would not be able to wait, so many plates waiting to be cooked...so I had to go home empty handed.
    1. It is the same here if we were to go out late. Many have returned home from outstation and the coffee shops are enjoying good business. That is the reason why I have to cook both lunch and dinner through the holidays. Not only the waiting time is long but the quality of the food will not be the same.
    1. Thank you, Mun. Ordering food delivery save all the work in the kitchen. For me there is no difference. CNY is just like any normal day except more cooking to do.
  4. ...Nancy, I linked your post, I had the starting time set for the wrong time. Here the Amish use wood fire water heaters that are like this one, things don't change easily for them. Thanks for sharing, take care.
  17. Nice dinner you had and hot tea is delicious! I am glad you were able to be with some family. Nice son to give you fish. I like Alaskan cod fish. I bought quite a bit a couple weeks ago. I need to divide them and put them in chest freezer. I had Lord Bergamot tea with my roast beef sandwich and chips, which I didn't eat yet. I took other half of sandwich home with me and eat it for lunch at work tomorrow. I sat at a table with a man that talked with me a bit. He was a Rose consultant. Nice man and told me have a good day when he left! I like roses and I have 3 rose bushes. Another one I need to get rid of! Have a blessed week!
    1. Thank you, Beckyl. Sounds like a wonderful day for you. I tried to grow roses but somehow they don't do well in my garden so I gave up. Have a blessed week too.
  19. In the UK we saw the Chinese New Year Tiger being woken and starting the year in Chinatown, London - we were there recently but this was seen on UK tv. Happy Chinese New Year to you. As a veggie I thought the greens dish looked delicious. We ha stir fry veg for dinner last night tossed in soy sauce, honey, garlic, chilli and eaten with noodles :)
    1. My kitchen is too small to accommodate a helper so it is better I do it alone.
  25. How nice to have fresh-caught fish for dinner. Even more 'yu' for CNY!
    The usual pattern is to increase price for CNY and then... never decrease haha.
