Steamed Sweet Lips Fish & Fried Minced Meat Patties

3rd day of Chinese New Year 2022 (3rd of Feb). While the young men were still sleeping, the early risers (hubby and I) went out for our breakfast.

Sunrise at 7:20am
No morning walk for us for the whole week of Chinese New Year celebration.
Sunrise at 7:25am.
We had breakfast at one of our regular coffee shops.
I ordered 1 plain polo bun.
Hubby ordered pre-fried noodle (yee mee) in soup.
~~~~~
Lunch for 4 people.
Sweet Lips Fish from elder son's fishing trip.
I cut the fish into 2 halves. Even half the fish was too much for 4 of us. I steamed the top half and topped with blended ginger and garlic oil.
Beef slices cooked with king oyster mushrooms and fresh shittake mushrooms.
Three dishes including a plate of green (blanched choy fah) for dinner.
~~~~~
Dinner for 3 people.
Younger son going out for dinner with friends.
Minced meat with egg patties. This is something I which I haven't had for a long, long time. This is my childhood's favourite and also I used to cook for my sons.
Cabbage with beef slices.
Added the ladies finger harvested from my garden.
Simple dinner for 3 of us.
This mural shows 2 washer women signed by Kareem.
Dulang washers are usually women who pan for tin sediments at the water's edge.

Linking to Monday Mural.

That, by the way, is what baptism pictures for us:
In baptism we show that we have been saved from death
and doom by the resurrection of Christ;
not because our bodies are washed clean by the water but
because in being baptized we are turning to God and
asking him to cleanse our hearts from sin.
(1 Peter 3:21, The Living Bible-TLB)

  1. Dunno what fish that is. So good your son goes fishing and comes home with fresh fish straight onto the plate.

    1. This fish is also new to me. My knowledge of fish is limited. I only know that fresh fish tastes good and don't have fishy smell. Ha ha.

  3. That Steamed Sweet Lips Fish must be huge for you to use half only but still is too much for 4 pax. Your Fried Minced Meat looks tasty. Are they like the meat patties for burgers?

    1. The problem is not all 4 of us like fish. Hubby takes only small amount of fish. This egg + meat patties are very different from the burger's.

    1. Thank you, Iris. Just add seasoning e.g. salt, soy sauce, pepper, etc. to the minced meat and then crack it a few eggs. There should have more eggs than meat. Put in some oil in the pan over medium low fire. Scoop some of the mixture with a small ladle. Then flip half over the other half, something like a pancake.

  10. Hello Nancy, :=) A wonderful days menu. I think I would enjoy, firstly the bun, it looks as though it might be sweet, and then the minced meat with egg patties.
    but there is a great choice of food all of which look tasty, but I don't like seeing the head of the fish,even if it does have sweet lips!:=))

    1. The polo bun is slightly on the sweet side. So sorry for showing the fish's head. Here, we usually serve our fish whole or with the head. Some enjoy eating the head.
