Breakfast At Bercham Great Wall Kopitiam, Ipoh

We had a breakfast appointment with friends.

After our morning walk, we went to pick up our friends for breakfast. The first place we went to was closed. The 2nd place (popular Bercham curry noodle) we went to, there was a long queue waiting. We then drove to the Bercham Great Wall Kopitiam. The place was also packed but we managed to get a table for 4 people.
A friend and I ordered steamed rolled noodle (Hong Kong chee cheong fun). For filling, I chose prawns with celery. The sambal is very nice. Hubby and a friend ordered fried noodle. The fried noodles came late and we forgot to take snapshot. A friend bought the following cakes or kuih from another stall for us to share.
Steamed tapioca cake. We like this kuih.
Yam cake.
Pulut bakar (3 pieces, 2 eaten).
Pulut rice with grated coconut and sambal filling wrapped with banana leaf.
2 cups of hot Latte coffee and 2 glasses of warm water.
For lunch, we had groundnuts (boiled in water and salt).
For dinner, we had leftover stuffed white bitter gourd, wild boar curry bought from an Indian rice stall and home cooked broccoli with minced pork + fish paste.
Wall mural: Traditional game played by children.
We used to play this game when we were kids. I think most kids these days no longer play this game. They are more into electronic games, hardly sweating playing outdoor games.

Linking to Monday Mural.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow
and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition
and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
(Colossians 2:6-8, New International Version-NIV)

  3. Luckily you all managed to get Breakfast At your 3rd stop. This Bercham Great Wall Kopitiam got nice food too from your photos. When I see the tapioca kuih, I think of your self made tapioca kuih. Will you be harvesting any tapioca to make kuih again?

    1. I no longer plant tapioca now so I think I won't be making any tapioca cake for the time being. Can't eat much so might as well buy but it may not be as nice as home made.

  6. Love the sky - interesting food, too! Again, so different from what we have here.
Kids play with chalk big here! (To my dismay, we live ground floor and I don´t wanna have it inside... JUMP!)

    1. Thank you, Iris. Yes, we used chalk to draw on the concrete floor or a stick to draw on the sand.

  7. Love groundnuts boiled in water and salt. Best to cook one's own, cooked ones so expensive for so little. We call pulut bakat pulut panggang here. Love all your kuihs.

  13. You have a lovely sky and delicious food! It is illegal to slaughter wild boar in this country. I adore the mural, and I completely agree with you that today's physical games are reduced to nothing more than that and that children are more adapted to gadgets than to sprinting and catching each other.
