Healthy Curry Mee For Breakfast At Restoran Sun Heng, Canning Garden, Ipoh

There are many version of curry mee or curry noodle available to us in Ipoh. Some like it hot and spicy, others prefer a milder version. Some like it with lots of coconut milk (santan or lemak in Malay), and some with less coconut milk. There is also one version where milk is used instead of coconut milk. Some version has a sourish taste.

For me, I enjoy all the different version as long as it is tasty or suits my taste buds. I like the "lemak" version but after eating, it will make me feel satiate and sleepy. The health conscious individual would avoid the "lemak" version because of the high cholesterol count. Others would complain that without "lemak", there is no oomph! (meaning no satisfaction).

This morning, four of us had a healthy version of curry mee in Restoran Sun Heng, Lorong Cecil Rae, Canning Garden. This shop is located in the middle of the row of shops, facing the Canning Garden market. My hubby and I have been here a few times before and this morning, we brought along 2 friends.
A non-lemak curry noodle. A mild, not so spicy version of curry noodle.

There is hardly any oil, which I consider a healthy curry noodle version.

This is the dry version curry noodle with dark sauce.

These are homemade fish stuffings or "liew".

I like these tasty "liews".

The fish stuffings or "liews" are placed on a separate table.

The business is run by a mother and 2 daughters team.

A glass of non-sweetened black coffee for hubby and a glass of "Teh-si" (non-sweetened tea with evaporated milk) for me. Our friends took hot milo.

Besides noodle, this restaurant also sells tasty "pau" (steamed buns). The hot favourite is the plain pumpkin buns, sold out very fast. There are also coconut, kaya, bean paste, BBQ steamed buns and etc.

On hearing this, Jesus said to them,
"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
(Mark 2:17, New International Version-NIV)
